Andrea Vilela Araujo, MA is the owner of Samsara Terapia, her private practice which is located in Goiânia, Brazil.   Andrea holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, and earned her BA in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She also holds Level 2 certification as a Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT) from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, and is a Yoga Alliance registered Yoga teacher, trained in Integrative Yoga Therapy by Joseph and Lillian LePage in Brazil.  

Andrea’s passion lies in helping those who are suffering from abuse trauma and its widespread effects (alcohol and drug addiction, domestic violence, poor self esteem, amongst others).  An excellent article of her written work, titled “AN INTEGRAL SOLUTION TO HEALING SEXUAL ABUSE TRAUMA”, has been published in the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice (December 2008).  It is available here.

Andrea believes in a holistic model of healing and health, one that incorporates the body, mind and spirit for complete unity and balance, which a well-designed treatment plan can provide.  She offers personal psychotherapy and incorporates yoga therapy into her sessions as needed by her clients. Instruction is available for private or small group yoga sessions, and yoga classes and programs are custom designed to meet the client where they are, for both preventative and therapeutic purposes, including prenatal yoga.  Beginner and intermediate level yoga classes are offered, and all ages and levels of experience are welcome.

Before becoming a yoga teacher, Andrea was an expert in the field of motion capture and technical animation.  Her passion for the body's movement is shown by her love of motion in 3D, whether it be in a yoga class on in the mocap studio!  Having worked at Sony Pictures Imageworks, Electronic Arts, and Mainframe Entertainment over the last 10 years, she worked on many videogame, tv and film projects such as the Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions, and Robert Zemeckis' films Polar Express, Monster House, and the upcoming Beowulf, where she has held roles ranging from Senior Shoot Supervisor, Senior Technical Animator and Department Head, amongst others.  Andrea has also taught 3D animation using motion capture data to students in the University of Southern California's Digital Animation Division in both 2005 and 2006.
